The Creative Writing Program’s WHAM! BAM! POETRY SLAM! is a poetry competition at the University of Notre Dame that, although relatively young, was instantly a classic from its onset, among both locals and people from across the U.S. The talent, the emotion and the artistry can only be paralleled with the congenial yet competitive atmosphere that is unique to the WHAM! Notre Dame Literary Festival

The Notre Dame Literary Festival is a three-day event organized in conjunction with the Creative Writing Program, Welsh Family Hall, Notre Dames, and Spoken Word ND. In the past, SUB has brought such distinguished authors as Gwendolyn Brooks, Joseph Heller, Joyce Carol Oates, Kurt Vonnegut, Stephen Chbosky (Perks of being a Wallflower), and Scott McEwen (American Sniper). We are proud to continue this tradition with this year's three-day festival.

Sasheer Zamata at Legends!

This Thursday, come check out Sasheer Zamata and openers from Student Standups performing at Legends! Admission is FREE.

Sasheer is a comedian, actress, writer, and current cast member on SNL. She performs improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and stand up at colleges and clubs around the country. She has appeared on Inside Amy Schumer, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, ABC's Would You Fall For That, and This American Life. She co-created and co-starred in the webseries Pursuit of Sexiness, which was named one of the Top 10 Web Series of 2013 by Variety, and part of Glamour's 7 Web Series We Can't Stop Watching in 2015.

Sasheer has been listed in Cosmopolitan's 13 Funny Women to Watch in 2014, Time Out New York's Top 10 Funnies Women in NYC in 2014, Brooklyn Magazine's 50 Funniest People in Brooklyn, and Complex Magazine's Women In Comedy You Should Be Paying Attention to Right Now in 2015. She's done stand up at Bonnaroo, SXSW, Moontower Comedy Festival, SF Sletchfest, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, Great American Comedy Festival, and Women In Comedy Festival. 

In 2016, she will be in the upcoming films Sleight, directed by JD Dillard, and Yoga Hosers, directed by Kevin Smith. SHe also serves as ACLU's Celebrity Ambassador for Women's Rights.

Collegiate Jazz Festival 2k17

Tighten the strings, find the drumsticks, and clean out the brass! It's time to get ready for Notre Dame's 59th Annual CJF! Enjoy performances from nine of the best collegiate jazz groups in the country, including the Notre Dame Jazz Band and the Notre Dame New Orleans Brass Band.

The event takes place at Washington Hall from 7-11 PM on February 24th and 25th.
